Our Vision

Inspire life-long passion for the surfing experience by offering quality instruction and training.

Goals

•To provide a fun and safe experience to surfers in a professional manner.

•To promote awareness of ocean hazards and safety to the general public.

•To maintain high standardization criteria.

•To provide employment for Canadians as instructors of surfing

•To safeguard the surfing industry, schools, instructors, students, and environment

•To liaise with the staff of PRNPR to help reduce risk at the beaches

Values

Fun, safety, passion and innovation are values the BCASI promotes. As an organization representing the surfing industry, the BCASI also promotes the stewardship of the beach environment by encouraging its members to minimize their impact as much as possible. This means not leaving behind any garbage or other items after surfing or lessons, and participating in regular beach cleanups. Surf school members will also encourage students to carpool to the beach.

 Code of Ethics

The BCASI encourages all its members to maintain a code of ethics. Businesses who accept a BCASI membership are agreeing to the following points:

• I will act honestly, responsibly and with integrity

• I will encourage the safety of my students and the public at all times

• I will teach diligently and with respect, inclusive of all people in equal fairness.

• I will not become involved with activities that could harm the reputation of my employer or the BCASI

• I will keep my training and certifications up to date

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO OUT

CoastSmart is a public safety pilot project in the Pacific Rim region of British Columbia designed to enhance coastal safety along the shoreline and in the surfzone. The pilot is led by Parks Canada, the District of Tofino and the District of Ucluelet and was made possible by funding from the Government of Canada.

CoastSmart is a communication and education campaign which highlights the hazards at beaches along the coastline between Tofino and Ucluelet, helps people avoid those hazards and provides advice to keep people safe as they enjoy coastal recreation.
